Did she have a man? She was
certainly old enough to be mated but he could tell by her form, she’d not yet
given birth. Perhaps she was barren! If she had a man, it was of no
consequence. He would take her if necessary and sire a brood of children with
her as his mate. She will be lucky to
have me! And why not? I am unmated. I’m
strong, a great hunter and warrior, and someday I will be chief. He would
take her as his first mate and when her breeding days were over, he’d take a
younger female as a second mate and perhaps a third if need be. But before he
claimed the female, he must fulfill the promise he made to the old grandfather.
