Paranormal, Science Fiction, Time Travel - I've delved into all!

I just can't seem to decide which genre I'm devoted to. I started out writing time travel (Fiona, Riley's Journey, Into the Savage Dawn, Beyond Tomorrow, Aimee's Locket).

I branched off into paranormal (Heart of the Sorcerer, Absolution, Prophecy's Bride (short)).

Now I'm into writing science fiction romance (The Chalice, Breeder Slave, Abaddon Rising, Will o' the Wisp).

From what I've heard from other writers, I'm supposed to pick a genre and stay there, but I feel comfortable writing anything that grabs my fancy.  I know writing what's popular would be a bigger paycheck, but I write as a hobby more so than an actual job.  I enjoy what I write, and I write what I feel passionate about.  My short short story Songbird is just a western about a young woman who runs from a marriage she doesn't want.

I wrote one of my stories solely for the pleasure of my husband and I found it harder to write than any of the previous ones because it was outside my comfort zone.  My writing career began when I was 54. My husband was constantly telling me I should write down all these stories I made up and one day, he went out and bought me a computer and told me to have at it.  I've been writing since and enjoying every moment.  Ending my stories leaves me feeling sad. The characters become my friends and I share their experiences with them.  Almost like I am there as well.

So time travel, paranormal or science fiction - whatever! I write what grabs my fancy.  Who knows?  One day I might try a contemporary romance!
