Benny said, scanning a page. “She’s a dhampir—half vampire, half human.”
“Dhampir. Vampire. What’s the
difference?”
“I haven’t read that far yet.”
“P’raps if I be not a vampire, I
canst not fly,” Chloe interjected, hoping to put an end to the absurd discussion.
“Let’s see.” Benny read on. “No…no,
even half-vamp, you still have powers.” His brows lifted. “Don’t you remember?”
“About what?”
“You know… Twice, when you got pissed, your eyes glowed
red and your nails got long and creepy. We all saw it!”
Shauna and Earl nodded, affirming
his statement.
Pain pounded at her temples. Frustrated
and dismayed, Chloe strode to the window, looking out over the sea of lights. Though
