How About a Free Read?

I suspect we are all doing a lot of reading during these chaotic times.  In hopes of doing a little good, I'm putting my novel, Riley's Journey, free on Amazon, April 10 - 12!  If you like time travel, really ancient history and of course romance, you might like to stop by and download a free copy.

Blurb:

The research project was only for an "extended period." No one said anything about forever! Deceived and betrayed, Riley is sent back 40,000 years to be the mate of a man she’d never before met. Her journey will take her into a world fraught with dangers—a world made more treacherous by savage beasts, primitive Neanderthals, and the incursion of the aggressive Cro-Magnon man.

Surviving alone for five years in this vast wilderness, Nathan, along with his enormous dog, Demon, carve out a life in the perilous environment. Though thrown together by forces beyond their control, Riley and Nathan nevertheless find love—but can these two lost souls survive against such overwhelming odds?

When you wanted this and got that! Riley's Journey and the trilogy

I've often speculated on what I would do if I got sent back in time. Would I have a choice where I went? Would I like it when I got there? Could I get back if I didn't?  Interesting questions! My Riley's Journey Trilogy deals with just those questions.  Unfortunately, Riley (Book 1) is sent back without her approval and ends up 40,000 years ago, to a time of Neanderthals, cave bears, saber-toothed cats and life at its beginnings.

Could you love this guy? A Cro-Magnon? Or any male from that time period? Unwashed, bad breath, no manners?  Would be a tough reality.

It isn't until Riley meets Nathan, a fellow time traveler, that her life takes on a more positive aspect.

Into the Savage Dawn and Beyond Tomorrow continue Riley's journey into prehistory. Each $.99 on Amazon.

Summer Extravaganza - Win E-copies of the Riley's Journey Trilogy

Like cavemen, saber-toothed cats, mammoths?  You might like the Riley's Journey Trilogy - Riley's Journey, Into the Savage Dawn and Beyond Tomorrow.

Sent back 40,000 years to the ends of the last great Ice Age, the time travelers embark on a journey of survival and discovery. The brutal and cannibalistic Cro-Magnons discover the small band and attack. Forced to flee from their high mountain encampment, the tribe heads into the dawn, towards the Pacific Ocean and their dream of ultimately reaching North America. Geena and Micah are left behind to lead the Cros away from the escaping tribe. When he is killed, she finds herself terribly alone. Severely injured and without hope or resources, she nonetheless is determined to survive and find the people. Survival of the fittest - that is the law of primordial earth.

The vicious and predatory Cros are amassing in ever growing numbers in the foothills above the travelers’ temporary encampment. Facing inevitable attack, the tribe hastens to prepare for the last leg of their journey—the perilous voyage across the Bering Strait to the shores of the Americas. But time is in short supply.
Kidnapped by a band of marauding Cros, Rachel’s fate as a slave is preordained. Females are few, the tribeswomen the ultimate prize and better off dead the reality. But fate is capricious and unsettled. When the savage warrior, Hawk, overpowers her captors and takes her for his own, Rachel’s destiny takes a new direction.

Wednesday Whinings - Jobs That Suck

There isn't a one of us that hasn't had the "job that sucked!" I can't say that I ever worked at a job that I just loved, most were just to pay the bills and get through to the next payday.  My first really sucky job was as a "prune ringfacer" for a fruit packing plant when I was 17, before that it was mostly babysitting and crawling through the fields picking strawberries. The prune ringfacer choice job involved stacking prunes upright in a flimsy cardboard ring and hoping it stayed together until the handlers got it packed. As the fruit ran out, the employees were laid off. I was kept until the last prune met its fate, much to my disgust.

I worked at a hamburger joint across from the local high school while I was in college.  For 60 minutes or more, a horde of hungry teenagers attacked the fast food joint, demanding food yesterday. Another sucky job and one I was happy to put behind me as I moved on.

I worked at a daycare in charge of 20 toddlers for a short time and as a secretary in the Serials Department at Idaho State University.  My then boss would pick his nose while he dictated.  Good times!

For the last 35 or so years, I worked as a legal secretary/legal assistant for various law firms, the final one for the same attorney for over 19 years.  Getting pulled in for weekend work was the crappiest ever because you rarely got a day off to make up for the lost time.  The job had its moments up and down but I can't say I miss not working in law anymore.

But what if the job you applied for wasn't the job you got! In my Riley's Journey Trilogy, Riley finds a job which she believes is a temporary research position, only to find out that she's been sent back in time to be the mate of a man she's never before met (Nathan). She ends up 40,000 years in the past where survival of the fittest is the law of primordial Earth. Ultimately, a black ops team is sent back to find them and a new beginning. In the sequels, modern man is forced to endure the hardships so prevalent in those times as Cro-Magnon fights for dominance.

So the Season is On!

Well, I did my best to avoid the season, but the flu snuck in and attacked me.  I'm one of those holdouts for the flu shots. The only year I had one, I ended up with the worst flu I've ever had so I usually avoid them against all my family members' encouragement and warnings.

But my senior citizen mind might just be changing.  If this session lasts too long, I suspect I just might.

Here's hoping if your flu season happens, it is a short one.

Deals Everyday - Not Just Black Friday!!!!

While I have to give thumbs up for those brave souls who venture out in the middle of the night just to get the best deals.  As I age, I realize, I'm not such a one! I can't conceive giving up my nice warm bed to fight crowds (which I hate anyway) just for the chance I'll find that one great deal.

Anyway, I digress!  How about those deals that are available every day - like my time travel and scifi stories for the lowly price of $.99!

Like ancient history - Cro-Magnon, Neanderthals, cave bears, saber toothed cats?  You might like my Riley's Journey Trilogy: Riley's Journey, Into the Savage Dawn and Beyond Tomorrow.  No one said anything about forever.

Or perhaps you would be more interested in the unusual, like Celtic mummies over 3,000 years old found in the Taklamakan Desert of Northern China.  Fiona!

And what about science fiction romance?  She flees from the most feared assassin of all.  Will o' the Wisp.

Out with February - A Wild Ride

I have to admit, the month of February was a wild ride for me.  Not only was Breeder Slave released, but I self-published Into the Savage Dawn, Beyond Tomorrow and Will o' the Wisp, the last three for $ .99 each.  Between editing the self-published books and promoting Breeder Slave, I had little time to actually write, but we are back on schedule and my WIP is a sequel to Breeder Slave.  I'm liking the new sequel and it is going along well.  Hope your March is a great one!

WAHOO - Signed Contract for Beyond Tomorrow

Signed the contract with Willow Moon Publishing for Beyond Tomorrow, sequel to Riley's Journey and Into the Savage Dawn.  Here's a little snippet to get your interest going:

Excerpt:

What am I going to do? She wanted to scream and rage against her presupposed fate. The savage Cros were animals, brutal and sadistic even amongst themselves and outsiders were little more than fodder for the beasts.
She whimpered. She had only herself to blame. She’d been warned about venturing from the compound alone and now she was paying the price for her carelessness. She could only guess what might have happened to Geena—or to any of them for that matter. For all she knew, they all could be dead or captives like her. The babies… She couldn’t bear thinking about what would happen to the little ones.
She felt herself sliding from the bony shoulder of the savage. He dropped her without regard to the jagged rocks or sharp sticks poking from the ground. She landed with a hard thump, shards of pain radiating through her body. Braying with laughter, he meted out several nasty kicks to her backside then spit a yellow glob of phlegm. She curled up, sobbing and praying for a quick death. Don’t let them eat me!
A few moments later, he grabbed a fistful of hair and yanked, forcing her head back. Rotting green teeth were bared in a sinister grin while his venomous black eyes raked her body. A rough hand fondled her right breast and then squeezed so cruelly, she yelped around the gag. He yanked her hair again, spewing spit as he cackled. Moisture washed her eyes and trickled down her cheeks. The bastard enjoyed inflicting pain.
Terror eased, giving way to fury. She dropped her glance, fearful he would see. I hope you die! Badly!

This is how I envision Hawk, my hero in this story:
