Mars Needs Women? What about the rest of the universe?

Alien abduction? Bride Kidnapping? A 1967 independently made American direct-to-television science fiction film from Azalea Pictures, produced, written, and directed by self-proclaimed schlock artist/auteur Larry Buchanan, stars Tommy Kirk, Yvonne Craig, and Byron Lord. The film was released in first-run syndication by American International Pictures without a theatrical release.

Plot: A U. S. military station in Houston, the United States Decoding Service (U.S.D.S.), NASA Wing, has intercepted a message from outer space. After decoding, the message contains only the cryptic statement: "Mars ... Needs ... Women"
Martians have developed a genetic deficiency that now produces only male children. A mission to Earth is launched, consisting of five Martian males, led by Dop (Tommy Kirk). Once here, their team intends to recruit Earth women to come to Mars to mate and produce female offspring, saving their civilization from extinction. Using their sophisticated transponder, Dop attempts to make contact with the U.S. military, which has now tracked the aliens' arrival on Earth.
The military eventually views the Martians as invaders, so the team takes on the guise of Earth men, acquiring human clothes, money, maps, and transportation. They finally select their prospective candidates, setting their sights on four American women: a homecoming queen, a stewardess, a stripper, and, most especially, a Pulitzer Prize-winning scientist, Dr. Bolen (Yvonne Craig), an expert in "space genetics". Resorting to hypnosis, the women are captured, but Dop quickly becomes enamored with Dr. Bolen; soon he is ready to sabotage their mission for her. After the military discovers their hideout, the Martians are forced to return home without their female captives.

Science fiction romance is replete with aliens abducting the unprepared human female and blasting into space towards an unknown destination. Sound fun?  I think not. But the concept of a handsome, hunky alien whisking the unsuspecting human female to parts unknown does have its appeal. That is, if the alien is a hunky, handsome male!

If the idea of aliens kidnapping prospective brides appeals to you, try out my Star Brides series, The Chalice and Breeder Slave, and coming soon, Abaddon Rising.  1,000 women, 1,000 alien males, and when the two sides meet, sparks fly.

The Cat's Out of the Bag - So to Speak

I've always had a thing about giving out the name of a work in progress until I've submitted it to my prospective publisher.  For the first time, due to a tag on Facebook, I've actually given out the title.  This is the third book in what I like to call my "Star Brides" series.

Title: Abaddon Rising.  You might remember Joss from Breeder Slave who is seen battling on Ausenseleut in the warrior pits.  This is her story.

Little bit to whet your interest:

Revelations 9:11
They had as a king over them the Angel of the Abyss
whose name ... is Abaddon ... (that is Destroyer)

“Get up!” Joss screamed over and over as she pounded her fists against the high retaining wall. “Anashe! Get up! Get up!”
Anashe, the stunning Shona woman from Zimbabwe, knelt in the chalky dust of the pit. A bloody network of cuts and purple bruises marked her smooth cocoa skin, interwoven with rivers of crimson dripping to the churned-up ground below. Her left arm hung at her side, crushed by the force of the massive war club wielded by Muugoa, a nightmarish creature brought in by a rival Deg’Nara clan as their champion. Though slow and lumbering, the horrific beast was nonetheless stronger by far than the courageous human female.
Joss stifled a sob as Anashe parried yet another brutal blow with the battered shield but without the means to strike back, she was defenseless and too weak, too worn out to withstand the fury of Muugoa. This was Anashe’s sixth match over the past several rotations but this one was without doubt the most formidable. The Shona woman had fought well, dancing in and striking before retreating but time and stamina were on Muugoa’s side and she was no match for the huge Santovaran. As she weakened and faltered, he’d pressed the attack even harder, knocking the three-pronged spear from her hand and then dealt a paralyzing blow to her arm. She’d tripped and then stayed down.
Sensing victory, the monster brayed like a donkey, displaying a mouthful of rotted stumps and decaying teeth as he rained blow after blow on the stricken female. Anashe fell back on the blood-soaked ground.

“Stop him!” Joss screamed to the crowd. “Stop him! Stop him! He’s won! He’s won! She doesn’t have to die!”

Submitting this to publisher soon!  Wish me luck!

Monday Morsel - Lost in the Universe

Her only chance for survival was the fugitive breeder slave who wanted nothing to do with her.

Breeder Slave by P. L. Parker

Excerpt:

“I hate to break it to you Mr. Romantic, but I haven’t been in here dreaming of the moment you storm through the door and ravage my trembling body.” She heaved a sigh damning poor timing and unrelieved sexual tension. “The only thing I want ravaging my body right now is that bed and about three rotations of uninterrupted sleep.”
Like a schoolboy caught in the act, he shifted from foot to foot as a slow blush colored his pale cheeks. His head dipped, the long silver tresses covered his face. Biceps bunched as his hands fisted.
His head lifted, the brilliant blue eyes blazed. “I have never wanted a female before. That choice was taken from me by those who called themselves my master.” The mobile lips twitched. “Forced breeding was just another atrocity those of us in captivity were expected to endure.”
The blue gaze locked with hers as he took a few steps forward. “But I want you. Want you as I have never wanted another thing in my entire existence.”
            Now we’re talking!
He continued. “I don’t know about softness or warmth…or what happens between a male and a female who desire each other. I only know that I want you so much my mind cannot think.”
There it is! Her stomach spasmed. More than she’d expected—more than she imagined he’d ever admit.

Monday Morsel

Like SciFi?  Romance?  Sequels?  BREEDER SLAVE sequel to The Chalice.

He was her salvation...or her destruction.

Monday Morsel:

“Not very inviting,” Leah commented as she scrutinized the dismal scenery flashing below.
“You think this is bad,” Amber chuckled. The edges of her prosthetic nose wrinkled. “What until you catch a whiff of the unwashed multitudes. Stench’ll make you want to gag. At least up here all you have to deal with is the ugly.”
“I dinnae like stinky,” Moira grumbled as she picked at the large snout Amber forced her to wear. Cupid’s bow lips pressed together in a girly scowl. “It’s bad enough we have tae go down there, but holding my breath the whole time will make it even harder tae bear—and this thing on my face itches like the bejesus!”
“You look more like a Deg’Nara with it on and you can’t hold your breath the whole time,” Leah grinned, “unless you plan on staying there permanently.”
“I dinnae plan tae stay there any time at all,” Moira retorted. She dropped a bundle of cloth to the deck. “And I dinnae want tae wear that smelly cape again.”
“You. Have. To. Wear. It.” Amber pronounced each word succinctly. “I’ve told you before, Deg’Nara females seldom travel alone and never if they’re part of the upper echelon. I’m supposed to be a Deg’Nara Commander and it would be unheard of for me to travel without my entourage. There’s no getting around that fact. If this were a perfect plan, I’ve have a dozen butt kissers following me around, but we don’t have the manpower and I can’t risk pulling any more crew members from the Ejupa.”
Leah picked up the disgusting cloak, grimacing to herself as she handed it to Moira. “Buck up little cowgirl. If this is the worst you have to endure from here on out, it’s a good trade.”
“Why dinnae you wear it?” With great reluctance, Moira took the offending object and gingerly eased it on.
“Because I’m the slave and I don’t have to…er… get to wear anything so important looking.”
Leah adjusted the cloth around Moira’s face, taking time to tuck each errant red curl well back into the scarf covering the smaller woman’s head. When she was satisfied none of Moira’s coppery locks were visible, she draped the hood lower until there was little left to see of the diminutive female to alert interested bystanders of her human origins. Perfect!

Bride Kidnapping Revisited

“Bride Kidnapping” is the basis for my sexy steamy novels, The Chalice and Breeder Slave.

In secret dreams, women imagine being taken by handsome, dashing warriors (mostly Scottish Highlanders) who whisk them away to a life of passion and overwhelming love.  They marry and live happily ever after!  Or do they?  In reality, being kidnapped by a desperate male isn't what romance authors make it up to be.

From a historical standpoint, women were considered highly valuable. They brought with them their tribe/clan's customs and new blood to add strength to the tribe.

“Bride kidnapping, also known as marriage by
abduction or marriage by capture, is a practice throughout history and around the world in which a man abducts the woman he wishes to marry."

The practice of kidnapping children, teenagers and women from neighboring tribes and adopting them into the new tribe was common among Native Americans and throughout the Americas. The kidnappings were a way of introducing new blood into the group. Although the practice was considered normal by Native Americans, European settlers were horrified by it.

History is replete with tales of kidnapped women, their tribulations and quite often sad endings.  Laws were enacted to protect women from such a fate, but even today, bride kidnapping is alive and well in many countries throughout the world.

In The Chalice and Breeder Slave, 1,000 human females are kidnapped by 1,000 alien virgin males and when the two sides meet, the battle begins.
